Edu Society: Jurnal Pendidikan, Ilmu Sosial, dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat publishes two types of manuscripts: Original Research Articles and Systematic Literature Reviews, starting from Vol. 6, No. 1, 2026. Each type has its own template, length, and required structure. Authors must choose one type before writing and use the matching template, because the initial editorial screening checks the manuscript against the structure of the type it claims to be.
Language. Starting from Volume 6, Number 1 (2026), all articles published in this journal must be in English. Manuscripts in Indonesian or another language are no longer accepted.
The Two Types at a Glance
Type 1: Original Research Article
5,000–7,000 words (10–15 pages)
Reports original empirical research using primary or secondary data collected and analysed by the authors themselves.
Type 2: Systematic Literature Review
7,000–10,000 words (10–20 pages)
Synthesises evidence from a body of prior studies through a transparent and replicable protocol for searching, screening, and coding.
The word count and page count include the whole manuscript: all sections, tables, figures, and the reference list.
Definition. An article reporting original empirical research with primary or secondary data collected and analysed by the authors themselves. Length: 5,000–7,000 words, 10–15 pages.
Section 1: Introduction
Topic relevance, the research gap, the objective, and the contribution claimed. Then, Conceptual definitions of each variable, prior findings, the underpinning theory, and each hypothesis with its reasoning.
Section 2: Method
Design, population and sample, instruments and measurement, data collection, and the analytical technique.
Section 3: Result
Findings presented in order, supported by tables and figures, without interpretation.
Section 4: Discussion
Interpretation of the findings against theory and prior studies, and the novelty of the study. Then, limitations of the study, together with its theoretical and managerial implications.
Section 5: Conclusion
Answers to the research questions, drawn from the evidence presented.
Definition. An article synthesising evidence from a body of prior studies through a transparent and replicable protocol for searching, screening, and coding. Length: 7,000–10,000 words (10–20 pages)
Section 1: Introduction
Relevance of the topic, previous reviews and their limitations, the review gap, and the review questions.
Add theoretical background: The concepts and theoretical lens used to organise and interpret the body of evidence.
Section 2: Method
The protocol: databases and search strings, the period covered, inclusion and exclusion criteria, screening and the PRISMA flow, the coding scheme, and quality appraisal.
Section 3: Result
The synthesis itself: descriptive profile of the corpus and the thematic or construct-level results.
Section 4: Discussion
What the synthesis adds, and an explicit agenda of researchable questions arising from it.
Section 5: Limitation & Future Research Agenda
Limitations of the protocol and corpus, with theoretical and managerial implications.
Section 6: Conclusion
Answers to the review questions
Note. Narrative literature reviews without an explicit, reproducible protocol are not accepted. A PRISMA flow diagram is required, and reviewers assess the review against PRISMA 2020.
